DESCRIPTION

The commission consisted of the total renovation and expansion of a Dutch Colonial home which sits on a two acre piece of property backing up to the South Mountain Reservation. Additions included a twelve feet by fifty feet Indoor Swimming Pool with Shower Room, Sauna and Bar area, new grand staircase and a Breezeway along the rear of the house. The Breezeway connects the house to the pool and serves as an indoor garden space. Primary design challenges were to avoid evidence of new construction from the front, opening up the rear of the structure to the gardens and the reservation, and updating and modernizing the house while preserving a sense of the traditional.
